Residents of Jos have been put on alert as JTF reports of imminent Boko Haram attack...

Residents of Jos Plateau have been warned by the Special Task Force in Plateau State  to be on alert as Boko Haram terror group plans to attack soft targets in the state capital.

It stressed that the dreaded terrorist group have been planning to attack the state in the past two weeks but STF has continued to foil their plans. STF warns people to be on the alert as the terrorist group might attack places such as markets, shopping malls and places with large gathering of people at a time.

This warning was given by the operations's Media and Communication Officer, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, who said in a statement released in Jos on Sunday that the terrorists had planned to attack parks, relaxation  centers, mosques and churches. He warned managers of such spots to take extra security measures to protect their lives. Iweha also told residents to explore any security measures to secure their lives and properties.

He revealed: “The planned attack, which has been consistently foiled by security operatives for about two weeks running, has already seen the increased presence of security personnel around identified flash points.

“It has also witnessed an increase in checkpoint activities and nipping points, established at random at hitherto quiet places. Also commercial vehicle and tricycle operators are equally enjoined to, at random, report any suspicious passengers in their vehicles or tricycle to the nearest checkpoint.

“Such was the case only recently by a woman, who overheard a discussion by supposedly fellow passengers at an OPSH checkpoint, which led to the arrest of the suspects.

“OPSH reiterates its readiness to respond to any act of breach of security or criminality which is capable of causing possible death and destruction of property promptly,” the statement concluded.
