45 Corps Members to Repeat Service Year in Lagos For Absconding

 

Forty-Five corps members will repeat the service year for absconding for three months in their places of primary assignments without permission. This was revealed by the State Coordinator, National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Lagos State, Mr. Cyril Akhanameh yesterday.

 

Akhanameh said: "Many of the corps members left their places of primary assignments for over three months without  permission, adding that when  queried, they could not give any genuine reason for being absent.”

 

Akhanameh also noted that the level of punishment will be determined by the level of their offences. He said some will serve for three or four months in any part of the states that the NYSC Authorities deem fit.

 

It will be recalled that this same issue occurred in almost all the states where corps members passed out. It was revealed that many of the corps members absconded from duty or performed below expectations in their respective places of primary assignment due to lack of seriousness on the part of the corps members.
