Rebels hacked down a man and his son they accused of torture, intimidation and a reign of terror.
Dead Mayor Dario Otaza
A father and his son were hacked down by suspected communist rebels in southern Philippines on Tuesday. According to the military, the bodies of Mayor Dario Otaza, 53 and his 27-year-old son, Daryl were kidnapped from their home by suspected rebels in Butuan City.
The bodies of father and son were found tied together with multiple gunshot wounds in different parts of their body.
Before his death, Otaza was a mayor of Loreto town in Agusan del Sur province and a former member of the communist New People's Army who surrendered in 1986.
He was accused of torture, intimidation and a reign of terror in the town by the rebels.
