A man has been arrested and remanded in prison after he was caught stealing clothes hanged outside to dry.
The 22-year-old man, Abdulmalik Ismail is in prison custody for allegedly stealing three sets of clothes. The accused was charged for theft at a Sharia Court in Kano on Wednesday, and remanded for committing the offence contrary to Section 133 of the Kano State Sharia Law.
According to the Police Prosecutor, Cpl. Ahmed Magawata, on Sept. 30, Manniru Sani of Yakassai Quarters reported a case of theft to the Kofar Wambai police division, Kano.
The report said that on that date, Ismail stole Sani’s set of clothes valued at N12, 000 which were hanged on a line to dry.
Ismail pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge.
The judge, Abubakar Ayagi, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.
He then adjourned the case to Nov. 2, for mention. (NAN)
