A dad has been left thoroughly shocked when he found a man hiding inside his wardrobe after the stranger came home to sleep with his daughter.

A shocked dad found a 42-year-old man hiding in a wardrobe at his house after the stranger apparently came over to have s*x with his 12-year-old daughter.

Alleged perv Christopher Leonard was found shirtless at 5:30am as the dad - who has not been identified - got ready for work.

Leonard is said to have calmly admitted that he was in the dad's Texas home after the girl invited him over on November 2 last year.

But he insisted the child claimed to be 21 years old, according to the dad.

Leonard allegedly said he and the young girl had been chatting on Facebook and Instagram.

But the girl later told police that Leonard knew she was only 12 years old, according to KPRC.

She told authorities that she met the man while using public transport a few weeks earlier.

They allegedly swapped numbers and contacted each other through texts, phone calls and on social media.

Detectives claim that they found sexually explicit messages sent from Leonard to the girl.

The 12-year-old's horrified dad told KPRC: "The man literally brainwashed her.

"Knowing this guy could have done something to my daughter and then knowing that I had another daughter that he could have done something to, it really affected me, and my family as well."

A warrant has been issued for Leonard's arrest after he was charged with online solicitation of a minor.
