Lionel Messi
Omar Berrada, the Chief Operating Officer of Premier League club, Manchester City, has talked about bringing Lionel Messi to the club.
He admitted that the possibility of bringing Lionel Messi to the Etihad next summer is “being considered”.
It will be recalled that the former Premier League champions were heavily linked with Messi this summer after he told Barcelona he wanted to terminate his contract.
But the LaLiga giants refused to grant his desire and insisted his release clause be paid in full before he could leave.
Messi eventually made a u-turn and agreed to see out the remaining year of his contract.
Berrada, speaking with the Manchester Evening News, has hinted that the Blues could launch a move for Messi when he becomes a free agent at the end of the current campaign.
“Messi is a generational talent, he’s the best player in the world and probably an exception to potential investments that we’d do out of the ordinary but our planning has been done with this current squad and it is being considered with the current opportunities that we have.
“For every single position we have to be prepared because there can be so many things that can happen but at the same time I think we have the financial strength and system ability to make that investment [in a striker] when required,” he said.
