INTERPOL Recovers Vehicles Stolen In Nigeria From Niger Republic

The IGP also hailed the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), INTERPOL Section, for efforts to curb trans-border crime.

 

It has been reported that the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) has recovered some vehicles stolen in Nigeria from Niger Republic.

Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi announced the recovery in a statement.

They include Toyota Camry with Chassis 4T1BE46K47U673141, a Mercedes Benz 2012 550GL with Chassis JGBF8GE8CA762560, and a Hyundai with Chassis KMHDH41EBDU54686.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Baba has commended Interpol for the operation.

The IGP also hailed the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), INTERPOL Section, for efforts to curb trans-border crime.

Baba said the achievement was recorded following “credible intelligence and physical support from operatives of INTERPOL Niamey”.

He noted that effective collaboration led to the trailing of a trans-border car theft syndicate and the eventual recovery of their loot.

Baba stressed that a multilateral relationship is vital to nip crimes and criminality in the bud and advised members of the public to report cases of stolen vehicles promptly.

The owners of the ones recovered were asked to approach the FCID – INTERPOL Section at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, with valid proof of ownership and means of identification.

The police said an investigation is still ongoing to arrest all persons complicit in the theft.
