Kazeem Asalapa, a Nigerian who was kidnapped along with his daughter-in-law in Kwara State, has been released by gunmen.
A source close to the family disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday.
This was also confirmed by spokesman for the police in the state, SP Ajayi Okasanmi.
Kazeem and his daughter-in-law were kidnapped when gunmen invaded Gaa Olobi community in the Okoolowo area of the state on Tuesday.
SaharaReporters learnt that a ransom was paid to secure their release but at the time of filing this report, it had yet to confirm how much was paid as ransom.
It was learnt that the kidnappers took Asalapa and his daughter-in-law as they were the ones they met when they invaded their house.
A source said the gunmen had demanded a ransom of N100 million from the family, which was negotiated downward.
SaharaReporters also reported last Tuesday that there was tension in Alomilaya neighbourhood in Ganmo community, Kwara State, after some unidentified gunmen attacked 16 HOUR hotel and killed the owner, identified as Kayode Akinyemi.
SaharaReporters learnt that after killing Akinyemi, aged 47, the attackers abducted one of his friends before leaving.
It was gathered that the gunmen also shot the manager, Emmanuel Olushila Ojo, who was later admitted to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH)
The friend of the hotel owner who was abducted by the kidnappers was simply identified as Ori.
