Serious confusion was recorded on Saturday following the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) elections.
This is because two factions of the National Association of Nigerian Students announced the emergence of two different candidates as President of the student body.
The PUNCH reports that NANS is the national body of Nigerian students studying in Nigerian tertiary institutions and in diaspora.
The two candidates announced as factional presidents are Umar Lawal of the Department of Library and Information Science of the Bayero University, Kano and Usman Umar of the Federal University Dutse.
The PUNCH reports that controversies had rocked the student body following internal tussles.
The tussles had led to the postponement of the elections which were earlier slated for last Saturday.
Despite moves for reconciliations, elections were held in two different locations which led to the emergence of two factional presidents.
More details are yet to emerge as at the time of filing this report.
However, the student body has called for an emergency press briefing to intimate the public with the recent happenings.
