Some kidnappers in Plateau State have demanded a ransom to release a former police officer.
They demanded the sum of N5m as ransom to release an ex-police officer, Ayuba Mangdihis who was abducted on Tuesday night.
The retired police inspector was kidnapped by gunmen who invaded his residence in Panyam Community, Mangu Local Government Area while around 11pm.
After taking him away to an unknown destination, the kidnappers who fired several gunshots to scare the people were said to have kept mum for some days without contacting the victim’s family.
However, sources from the victim’s family told The PUNCH in Jos, on Thursday night that the kidnappers had eventually made contact with the family and demanded the sum of N5 million before they could release the retired police officer.
The source said “At least, we are sure that the retired police officer is alive because I went to their house this evening (Thursday). And they (kidnappers) allowed him (retired police officer) to speak with his wife on phone and they were demanding the sum of N5 million before they could release him.
