Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels
Social media users are reacting to the statement made by former lawmaker, Ned Nwoko encouraging Southerners to marry more wives like their Northern counterparts.
In a recent interview with the Guardian, Ned Nwoko accused men who do not marry more than one wife of contributing to immorality in society.
He said: “Many women are out there without a husband, especially in the southern part of the country, and there is a high level of prostitution. If the southern men emulate their northern counterparts by marrying more than one wife, that could probably change the situation.
“An average southerner may have one wife with girlfriends, and he is spending money on the girlfriends, sometimes even more than his wife.
“For instance, the man, who has three wives, concentrate on them, every money he makes is spent on his family, and he is more likely not to have a girlfriend or concubines. The money those with several girlfriends spend on them is a gift, not an investment in the family.”
Nwoko, who has multiple wives, noted that he and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, are serving Nigeria by marrying many wives.
The statement generated comments from several Nigerians who said the lawmaker would marry more wives after Regina Daniels.
An Instagram user identified as Tracy wrote: “This is a sign that Regina will not be his last. He his still counting.”
Another user Little added: “And people said Regina made the right choice because if 10m. A man that feels he’s doing you a favour.”
“Regina should get ready to make room for more wives, she definitely won’t be the last,” Michelle wrote.

Create jobs, provide enabling environment for women to work and thrive in their businesses then there will be less pr#stitution. Although some of them are into pr#stitution cos of lack of contentment but a lot of them are ready to work. Marrying them is not the solution, empower them to work for their own money.”
