A 60-year-old woman alongside her 15-year-old granddaughter have been abducted by gunmen in Andaza Village, Kiyawa local Government, Jigawa State.
A resident told Dailypost that the incident happened on Sunday night after gunmen in their numbers, riding motorcycles, invaded the village.
He said the hoodlums, who stormed the village carrying guns and shooting sporadically, went straight to the house of their victims and took them away to an unknown destination.
State Police Commissioner, CP. Emmanuel Effiom confirmed the incident to newsmen in his office on Tuesday.
He said the criminals went to the house of one Husseini Yakubu and kidnapped two people, including a 60-year-old Khadija Yakubu and her 15-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shehu.
CP. Effiom added that the gunmen also shot two other residents who tried to raise alarm.
“Two people, Musa Dahiru and Sani Nuhu were also shot in their legs and hands respectively,” he said.
He said they were rushed to a hospital in the Andaza community for medical attention.
The Commissioner, however, noted that the police were mobilized in the area to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects.
