The lifeless body of Oreoluwa Fatinoye, the 25-year-old son of the couple allegedly burnt to death on January 1, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has also been found.
His corpse was recovered from a river along Adigbe – Obada road where it was thrown into by the assailants who abducted him after killing his parents.
It was reported earlier that Oreoluwa's parents, Kehinde and Bukola Fatinoye were killed during the attack which occurred at their residence located within Ibara Government Reservation Area (GRA), Abeokuta, shortly after returning from a New Year crossover service. They were burnt beyond recognition with their remains later packed by policemen and health officials who visited the scene.
Oreoluwa's mother worked at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), while his father was a Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) staff.
Daily Trust reported that the decomposing body of Oreoluwa and the family's house help were discovered floating on the river by fishermen on Tuesday morning, December 3.
The young man and the househelp were reportedly kidnapped by the assailants who later pushed them into a river along Adigbe – Obada area of the town. Both hands of the deceased were tied with a rope.
A fisherman, Idowu Taiwo who discovered the corpse, said the lifeless body was found floating on the river while he was preparing for the day’s work.
He said;
“On Monday, we heard that someone was thrown into this river, but this morning while we were preparing for work, the police approached us and pleaded with us to inform them any time we discover the body.
“But, this morning, around 7.30, we discovered the body while we were checking on our equipment in the river. I called someone to help us get the number of the PPRO to tell him that we have discovered the body.
“Not long after, the police came and we showed them the body after we had brought to the river bank."
