The incident occurred after Whitemoney received the Afrobeats Single of the Year award on behalf of singer Flavour.
Reality star Whitemoney has broken his silence after being slammed by media personality, Dotun, popularly known as Do2dtun, over his tribal remarks at the 17th Headies.
Recall that the event happened at Eko Convention Centre in Lagos.
Whitemoney had gone on stage to receive the Afrobeats Single of the Year award on behalf of singer Flavour when he stated that he was receiving it “on behalf of the Igbos.”
Reacting via his 𝕏 (formerly Twitter) handle, Do2dtun described Whitemoney’s statement as inappropriate for the occasion.
Replying the comment from Whitemoney, Dotun took to his page on X and wrote;
“On behalf of the igbos, I am sorry, that was so unnecessary. It didn’t need that type of narrative. It’s an award won by an African; for Afrobeat and a Nigerian.”
He noted that he was only happy that an Igbo man won the award in a Yoruba-dominated genre – Afrobeat.
He also apologised to Flavour if receiving the award on his behalf had caused more harm than good.
