A medical doctor and former reality TV star, Faith Adewale, has claimed that sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can lead to mental illness.
He explained that neurosyphilis, the third stage of syphilis, is associated with mental problems.
He claimed that a lot of mental health patients are suffering from ailments caused by protracted STIs.
Adewale featured in a recent episode of The Clarity Zone podcast co-hosted by Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia.
“Do you know STIs can cause mental problems? There is something called neurosyphilis, the third stage of syphilis… There are many things that can lead to mental issues.
“A lot of the people having mental health problems, some of them have STIs. Neurosyphilis affects your brain. It affects the way you process things,” he said.
