Seyi Law, the popular Nigerian comedian, has apologized to Nigerians for his earlier statement claiming that the country is safer now than it was ten years ago.

Recall that Seyi Law had earlier credited the current administration of President Bola Tinubu for improving security and reducing criminal activities across the nation.

Seyi, who spoke while appearing as a guest on the Honest Bunch podcast, noted that under the present government, more bandits have been captured or neutralised than during the previous administrations of Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari.

He also said that reports of bomb attacks have become less common, saying that violent incidents have decreased in recent years.

However, the comedian’s comment was described as insensitive, especially to victims of kidnappers and other acts of insecurity.

Responding to the criticism online, Seyi, in a video on Instagram, admitted the remark was insensitive and apologised for it.

He said, “My fellow Nigerians, I owe you this and more. You don’t deserve to have your sleep snatched away from you and the pain of one should be the pain of all.

“I am sincerely and deeply sorry for such an insensitive statement. I apologise to victims, families and everyone who has been affected in any way by the insecurity in the country.

“As a supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, I want to also use this opportunity to call on him to intensify efforts in the battle against insecurity.

“God bless you and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’’
