Rivers LGA Chairman Reacts After Being Accused Of Ass@ulting Lady Over Video She Shared (Video)

Eugene Cheta Epelle, chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, has denied allegations that he led a group of thugs to ass@ult Winnie Miller, a young woman who shared a video highlighting the poor condition of a secondary school in his constituency.

Winnie held a press conference on Wednesday, March 4 where she alleged that the local government chairman was displeased by the video she shared and led a group of thugs to ass@ult her.  

Reacting to the claim, Epelle denied the allegation. He claimed he never led thugs to Winnie's house and that his only grievance was that Winnie should have taken permission from him before posting the video.

“I never led thûgs to her house. The people they are calling thûgs were myself, my driver, my last brother, and leaders of the councilothers. We were driving towards her house when I coincidentally saw her mother in front of their house.

"She waved at me and I stopped because we knew each other from childhood. We are close friends. She told me that she had an accident and I sympathized with her, saying she should have called me so I could help them. 

"I then told her to tell her daughter who is my aide and is still on my payroll to remove the post online so it will not seem like am against the Rivers State government and that I asked her to post something that is against the Rivers state government.

"I’m not against her post, but she should have taken order from me before posting such a thing.

"When she came out of her compound, she said ‘’step down which post? Did I give her money to buy phone that I will tell her to delete a post?'' he said

Epelle said his younger brother who was present when she was disrespectful to him, pushed her and in the process, she sustained an injury. He said he never supported his brother for pushing Winnie.

‘’Nobody be@t her.'' he said
