Nigerian singer Portable has sparked debate by questioning the career paths of artists who depart from Mavin Records.
In a video that quickly went viral, he suggested a partnership with music executive Don Jazzy and raised doubts about why some former signees no longer dominate the music scene.
Portable singled out popular artistes linked to the label, claiming that even rising star Rema has lost prominence while noting that Tiwa Savage remains successful.
He directly called on Don Jazzy to collaborate with him, implying that proper guidance from the label could boost his career.
He said: “Don Jazzy, why is it that everyone who leaves your label don’t reign again? Come and package me and let’s partner.
“Even Rema is no more reigning. Only Tiwa Savage is reigning,” he said.

This comes after singer Crayon, who joined Mavin Records in 2019, shared a series of now-deleted social media posts making serious accusations against the label boss.
Crayon claimed that Don Jazzy was involved in circumstances surrounding his mother’s death and alleged that he had not received royalties owed to him.
He added that funds collected on his behalf were withheld and hinted at plans to expose further details about the label’s operations.
