On Monday, police arrested Tajudeen Baruwa after he led members of his faction in seizing the national secretariat of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
The arrest came just hours after Baruwa, alongside his supporters, stormed the union’s headquarters in Abuja to take control from the faction headed by MC Oluomo.
Earlier, Tori News had reported that the faction of the NURTW under Baruwa took over the national secretariat in the early hours of Monday, following the dramatic invasion of the premises.
The NURTW factions led by Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, have been involved in an internal leadership tussle since 2024.
Members of the NURTW had elected MC Olumo as National President in November 2024.
However, the court ruled in favor of Baruwa when the dispute led to a lawsuit.
