
The Nasarawa State Government has been thrown into mourning following the sudden de@th of the Head of Operations of the State Operations Coordinating Unit (SOCU), Yakubu Akuki Ogalebe.
Mr. Ogalebe, who previously served as the Sole Administrator of the Agwada Area Administrative Council, reportedly passed away on the afternoon of Friday, March 27, 2026.
According to available information, he slumped while at his office in Lafia, the state capital, prompting immediate concern among colleagues.
Efforts were said to have been made to attend to him following the incident, but he was sadly confirmed de@d shortly afterward. His sudden passing has come as a shock to many within the state’s public service and beyond, particularly given his active role in government operations.
Until his de@th, Ogalebe served as the Head of Operations at the Nasarawa State Operations Coordinating Unit, a key government body established in 2016. The unit plays a critical role in developing and maintaining a credible Single Register (SSR) of poor and vulnerable households, a database used to guide social intervention programs and ensure targeted support for those in need.
Colleagues and associates have begun paying tribute to the late official, remembering him for his dedication to public service and his contributions to governance at the grassroots and state levels. His de@th marks a significant loss to the Nasarawa State administrative community.
