Three suspected armed robbers were taken into custody by the Lagos State Police Command during a regular nighttime patrol in the Lagos State neighborhood of Idimu.
The operation occurred early on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m., when cops on patrol near the Car Wash Bus Stop by First Bank stopped three males on a motorcycle, according to the command on its X handle on Friday.
Abdullahi Mustapha (20), Salisu Sannusi (30), and Jamiu Sahidu (26) were named as the suspects. A search of the suspects reportedly led to the recovery of a machete concealed on them, an army camouflage uniform, four mobile phones, a power bank, and some cash suspected to have been stolen from victims. A Bajaj motorcycle with registration number AKD 40 OM was also recovered.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had allegedly been involved in a series of robberies targeting unsuspecting members of the public before fleeing the scenes on a motorcycle. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Tijani Fatai, said the arrest demonstrates the Command’s continued commitment to tackling crime and ensuring public safety across the state.
He said, “The Lagos State Police Command has recorded another operational success in its ongoing efforts to curb criminal activities across the State”
He stated that the command will continue its patrols and intelligence-driven operations to disrupt criminal networks. “We are committed to safeguarding lives and property across the State,” the Commissioner said, urging residents to support security efforts by providing timely information.
Fatai further asked the people to be watchful and report any suspicious actions to the nearest police station or the Command's emergency lines.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are proceeding to determine the full scope of their suspected criminal activity and assure conviction.
