Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai shouldn't be detained indefinitely due to an inquiry, according to Prof. Udenta Udenta, a fellow of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought.
In an interview on "Prime Time," an Arise Television program, Udenta made this statement on Wednesday.
He emphasized that El-Rufai must be assumed innocent and that investigations may be conducted without him being detained, therefore they must leave him alone.
Additionally, the professor proposed that they confiscate El-Rufai's passport and restrict his travels.
He said, "You cannot detain a man indefinitely because you are conducting an inquiry. "That is unfair."
According to the DAILY POST, El-Rufai has been detained by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC) after returning from Egypt.
He was arraigned in a different Kaduna State court after being accused of wiretapping the National Security Advisor, or NSA, Nuhu Ribadu's office.
