BREAKING: Goodluck Jonathan Indicates Interest in 2027 Presidential Election, Says He'll Consult Widely

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has hinted at possible discussions surrounding the 2027 presidential election after supporters staged a rally urging him to return to the race.

Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, has said that he will start discussing his potential involvement in the upcoming 2027 presidential race.

This was said by Jonathan on Thursday in Abuja.

This comes after a group of supporters demanded that he run for president by marching to his office.

Only those who are patriotic may construct their countries. Citizens who lack patriotism will ruin their country and use the money to live wherever they like. So you have to be a patriot. And everything is quite apparent.

"Peace is the most important thing this nation needs. Therefore, the majority of you here—more than 80% of you—are young individuals.

"I'm not even sure how old some of you were when I was president, but the most important thing is peace in this country, and you will keep pushing for peaceful and credible elections because most decent people won't want to bother getting involved in politics if we don't have peaceful and credible elections.

"And you will keep pushing for that as young people. For us, a peaceful election is absolutely important, and indeed you as young people must continue to be fully involved in the electoral processes, especially your right to vote.

"I have witnessed elections in at least 14 African nations, some of which I have visited twice.

"I heard you and I will consult widely, but the most important thing is that the young people in Nigeria will have plans for our grandchildren," Jonathan stated. "Presidential race is not a computer game."
