Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan against pursuing a presidential run before the 2027 election.
This comes after a group begged the former president to run for office on Thursday.
Primate Ayodele warned the former president that his ambition might damage his reputation in a statement signed by his media assistant, Osho Oluwatosin.
The prophet, who had previously stated that Jonathan's admission would upend the APC, insisted that his candidacy would change the nation's political landscape but advised him to exercise prudence.
Goodluck Jonathan, the former president, will do well on the ballot, but his esteemed reputation might be damaged.
"It will be difficult for every candidate, including President Tinubu, if he really wants to run, but he must be very careful," he said.
The prophet observed that the former president is hesitant and fearful.
But since it won't be an easy trip for him, he advised him to be brave in whatever he wants to achieve and get ready for what lies ahead.
Many will be shocked by Jonathan's candidacy, but he is afraid. The trek is not for the timid, so he must have bravery. If that's what he wants to do, he needs to have courage because it won't be simple for him," he continued.
"Jonathan will get international backing and sponsors if he decides to contest. Regardless, it won’t be easy for him." he added.
