According to reports, gunmen in the Ngbra Zongo hamlet of Kwall District in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State have killed at least 13 people.

The attack took place early on Friday morning, and it was reported that a number of other individuals were also injured to varied degrees.

Mr. Philip Alanga, a community member, informed reporters in Jos that the assailants invaded the area at around 12 a.m. and started firing intermittently while assaulting locals with machetes and other lethal weapons.

He said that during the attack, the attackers traveled from home to home, leaving many residents terrified and perplexed.

Around midnight, they entered the neighborhood and began killing people by shooting and hacking.

They attacked innocent people while moving from house to house, according to Alanga.

He said that several families fled into the surrounding bushes to avoid the attack, and a number of people were injured.

Mr. Chigoji Rocku, another community member, revealed that three of the victims of the attack were pregnant women.

Journalists in Jos were informed of the occurrence by Mr. Danjuma Auta, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), who described the attack as terrible and unacceptable.

Auta called on security services to step up efforts to protect lives and property in vulnerable rural communities, bemoaning the frequent attacks on villages in Bassa Local Government Area and other parts of the state.

In order to prevent more bloodshed in the neighborhood, he encouraged security personnel to find the attackers as soon as possible and make sure that justice is done.

As of the time this report was filed, attempts to speak with SP Alfred Alabo, the spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, regarding the event were unsuccessful.
