Three unlicensed medical institutions in the state's Enugu South Local Government Area have been shut down by the Enugu State Ministry of Health.

The Ministry's Monitoring and Supervision Team, under the direction of Dr. Chinyere Ezeudu, Director of Medical Services, sealed the premises on Friday and stated that the current action was intended to enhance healthcare services.

According to Ezeudu, the strategic supervision was intended to assess the infrastructure, patient management, staff performance, quality of healthcare services, and adherence to government health laws and standards in different healthcare facilities.

She reiterated the Ministry's and the state government's dedication to creating a people-centered, effective, and responsive healthcare system.

The director urged healthcare professionals to continue being committed to their work, preserve professionalism, and provide patients with high-quality care.

She offered helpful suggestions in areas that needed improvement while praising healthcare facilities that showed excellence in service delivery.

She claims that the goal of the oversight is to promote ongoing advancements in healthcare delivery throughout the state rather than to witch-hunt medical facilities or their personnel.

Prof. George Ugwu, the State Commissioner for Health, previously stated that supporting supervision and routine monitoring are still essential instruments for finding gaps, bolstering accountability, and guaranteeing that citizens receive high-quality healthcare services at all levels.

"The visit and actions of the monitoring/supervisory team further demonstrate the state government's resolve to maintain current reforms in the health sector under the leadership of our health-loving governor, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah.

Ugwu stated, "This is intended to guarantee that every community benefits from accessible and high-quality healthcare services."

While evaluating operational effectiveness and service delivery, the team visited many medical facilities in the council area and spoke with patients and healthcare professionals.

Additionally, locals praised the ministry's direct supervision, claiming it improves the health system and rebuilds confidence in public, private, and mission-owned facilities.
