Lionel Messi, a striker for Inter Miami, has referred to his ongoing conflict with Cristiano Ronaldo as "a beautiful sporting rivalry" as he considers one of the most memorable periods in football history.

Speaking about their years of elite competition, Messi claimed that desire and rivalry, not personal disagreements, drove their rivalry.

While playing for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, respectively, the two superstars dominated world football for more than ten years El Clásico encounter into a global spectacle.

The eight-time Ballon d'Or winner was quoted by Frabrizio Romano on X on Friday as stating, "It's something natural in football." He was at Real Madrid and I was at Barcelona, and we were fighting for everything, both personally and collectively.

"We were generally on excellent terms, but we didn't often get together outside of games or award ceremonies. We're in different phases of life now, but what transpired was a lovely athletic competition.

Messi observed that when both players proceeded to smash records and win significant trophies year after year, comparisons between them were inevitable.

Despite the intense rivalry on the field, the Argentine captain stressed that their relationship has always been polite.

Both Messi and Ronaldo are regarded as some of the best football players of all time, and their rivalry created many unforgettable moments in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.

Messi, who is now in a different stage of his career, says he looks back on that time with pride and gratitude, describing it as a time that helped define modern football.
