Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arr£sted a woman identified simply as Joy for allegedly st£aling two infants.

According to the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who disclosed details while parading the suspect, Joy allegedly orchestrated the abd¥ctions to replace her deceased twins and prevent her partner from leaving her.

Preliminary police investigations revealed that the suspect targeted local traders by posing as a customer.

She first st£ale a four-month-old infant from a woman selling groundnuts, then abd¥cted a second baby from a woman selling ticketing stubs.

During interrogation, Joy confessed to the crimes, citing a troubled relationship with her partner. She claimed he had previously abandoned her following recurrent miscarriages.

Though she eventually gave birth to twins a boy and a girl the infants tragically d+ed six weeks later.

Fearful that the loss would end her relationship, Joy concealed the tragedy from her partner.

She admitted she felt pressured to act quickly, as he was already planning a child dedication ceremony for the coming Sunday. She decided to abd¥ct the two infants to pass them off as her surviving twins.

The scheme unravelled after the mothers of both abd¥cted children filed independent reports with the police. Following a detailed tracking operation, law enforcement officers successfully located the suspect, rescued both babies, and took Joy into custody.

The Delta State Police Command confirmed that further legal proceedings are underway.
