Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have neutralised two suspected kidn@ppers and arrested two others in the Byazhin, Kubwa area of Abuja, rescuing five kidn@p victims in the process.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation was carried out on Tuesday and personally led by the Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi.

According to the spokesperson, the operation was launched in response to recent kidn@pping incidents within the Paze community in the Byazhin area.

The CP led a clearance operation involving operatives of the Anti-Kidn@pping Unit, the NPF Intelligence Response Team, IRT, and Kubwa Area Command, working in collaboration with local hunters and vigilante groups.

The joint security team conducted an intensive search, clearance, and rescue operation across the two communities at around 9pm on Tuesday.

During the operation, operatives engaged the assailants in a gun duel, resulting in the death of two suspects and the arrest of two others identified as Icheh Mohammadu and Abubakar Usman. Other members of the gang fled into nearby hills with gunshot wounds.

Two AK-47 rifles and magazines were recovered during the operation.

The statement noted that pressure from operatives forced the fleeing suspects to abandon five hostages, who were rescued unharmed and subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.

The command added that search operations across the area and adjoining communities are continuing, aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspects and dismantling the criminal network.

It also called on healthcare practitioners, hospitals, and members of the public to promptly report any individual presenting gunshot-related injuries or seeking treatment under suspicious circumstances.
