Adamawa Moves NECO Exam Centres Over Rising Security Fears

The Adamawa State Government has relocated multiple National Examination Council centres following growing security concerns linked to recent abductions in nearby areas.

The Adamawa State Government has relocated 12 National Examination Council examination centres to safer locations amid heightened security concerns.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Development, Hajiya Aisha Mohammed Umar, said the decision followed the recent abd@ction of students and teachers in neighbouring Borno State on June 29, 2026, which has heightened concerns over the safety of students, teachers, invigilators, supervisors and examination officials.

The permanent secretary explained that the relocation is a precautionary step aimed at safeguarding the lives of candidates and examination personnel while ensuring the smooth continuation of the ongoing examinations.

She stressed that the decision was made in the best interest of the state and the safety of its students and teachers, noting that the arrangement would remain in place until the security situation improves.

The affected schools and their new examination centres are as follows:

Government Day Secondary School, Kwabapale, has been moved to Government Day Secondary School, Michika; Government Day Secondary School, Kuburshosho, to Government Day Secondary School, Watu; Government Day Secondary School, Kirchinga, to Government Day Secondary School, Shuwa; Government Day Secondary School, Wagga, to Government Day Secondary School, Madagali; Government Secondary School, Hausari, Michika, to Government Day Secondary School, Watu; Government Day Secondary School, Shuwa, to Government Day Secondary School, Madagali; Government Day Secondary School, Guyaku, to Government Day Secondary School, Gombi; Government Day Secondary School, Dzangola, to Government Day Secondary School, Gombi; Government Day Secondary School, Garaha, to Government Secondary School, Kwabaktina; Government Day Secondary School, Mukuvinyi, to Government Day Secondary School, Hildi; Government Day Secondary School, Gawkilba, to Government Day Secondary School, Gashala; and Government Secondary School, Maki, to Government Day Secondary School, Gashala, in Hong Local Government Area.

The ministry appealed to the management of all affected schools, members of the public and examination officials to fully cooperate with the directive, while also urging school authorities and community leaders to ensure strict compliance with the relocation order with immediate effect.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to protecting students and ensuring that academic activities continue in a safe and secure environment.
