NUC Approves 24 New Programmes for Kwara State University

With effect from the 2026–2027 academic year, the National Universities Commission has authorized the full-time launch of new programs at Kwara State University, Malete.

Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, the director of university relations at KWASU, made this announcement on Wednesday in Ilorin.

According to Aliyu, the approval is contained in a letter signed by Abubakar Girei, the director of academic planning at the NUC, and written to Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, the vice chancellor.

According to her, ten of the programs were at the postgraduate level and fourteen were at the undergraduate level.

The approved undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.NSc. Nursing Science, B.Ed. Educational Technology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Health Education, and B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education.

Others include B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed. Technology Education, B. Community Health Science, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering.

The postgraduate programmes include M.A. and Ph.D. Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and Ph.D. Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD M.Tech, Ph.D. Food Science and Technology, Ph.D.

Hospitality and Tourism Management, Ph.D. Public Administration, and Ph.D. Mass Communication, Aliyu said.

She quoted the Vice-Chancellor of the institution as expressing excitement and congratulating members of staff who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the resource verification exercise conducted by the regulatory agency.

He said the university would continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research and community development for which it is reputed, adding that this would be achieved by producing the quality human capital needed to drive global development.
