Father Sentenced To Life For R@ping And K!lling Son’s Friend During Sleepover

A father has been sentenced to life imprisonment after being convicted of r@ping and k!lling his eight-year-old son's friend during a sleepover at his home in Peerless Park North, a residential suburb of Cape Town, South Africa.

The young victim had been sleeping on a double bed beside the 49-year-old man, while his own son slept nearby on a bunk bed.

The father was handed two life sentences at the Western Cape High Court on Wednesday after being found guilty, despite maintaining his innocence throughout the trial.

Prosecutors presented disturbing forensic evidence, including bite marks, abrasions, adult pubic hair and nail marks found on the boy's neck.

The convicted man cannot be named in order to protect the identity of his son, who served as the key witness during the trial.

Handing down the sentence, acting Judge Sue Smith noted that the man had shown no remorse for his actions at any point.

He was also sentenced to 10 years' imprisonment for the r@pe of a woman in 2005, and eight years for the sexual ass@ult of the boy, with all sentences ordered to run concurrently.

The court heard that the man was a repeat sex offender who had previously entered into a plea agreement following his 2005 r@pe conviction, after which he was placed under a three-year correctional supervision programme that he later absconded from.

The judge ordered that his details be entered into South Africa's National Register for Sex Offenders, and he has additionally been permanently barred from working with children and prohibited from possessing a firearm.

The mother of the deceased boy, along with the survivor of the 2005 assault, were granted the right to make representations to the parole board should the convict ever become eligible for release.

Both women held hands in solidarity as the sentence was delivered, while the convicted man was seen weeping in the dock.

Speaking outside the court afterward, the boy's mother said nothing would ever bring her son back, describing the grief as something that stays with a person for life and stating that no sentence could ever feel harsh enough.

She described her son as her "absolute light," noting that he had dreamed of becoming a veterinarian and adored his younger sister.

This development comes after a man was jailed for life for kidn@pping and k!lling his three-year-old niece.

He was convicted of her deliberate mur:der after locking her inside a cold storage unit before dumping her body beside a stream in a rural part of Turkey.

He had denied wrongdoing until the end, claiming in his final statement that he had committed no crime and suggesting he was being punished simply for grieving her d£ath.
