The Gombe State Police Command has announced a two-day firearms training exercise scheduled for the Gombe Military Shooting Range in Liji, Gombe State, on Wednesday, August 12, and Thursday, August 13, 2026, operating between 7 am and 4 pm daily.
The Police Public Relations Officer disclosed the exercise through a public statement on Tuesday, characterising it as part of routine police personnel activities and urging residents and commuters in the vicinity not to become alarmed by gunshot sounds.
The command advised members of the public, particularly those residing or travelling near the shooting range, to refrain from unnecessary movement around the designated exercise area.
The command specifically cautioned the public against trespassing into the range zone, emphasising that access restrictions are necessary to prevent incidents during operations.
The command urged parents and guardians to instruct children and dependents to avoid proximity to the shooting range during the exercise period.
Residents were directed to comply with instructions issued by security personnel deployed throughout the surrounding area.
The police expressed appreciation for public cooperation and understanding as the command pursues its mandate to maintain safety and security throughout the state.
The exercise is scheduled to conclude at 4 pm on Thursday, August 13.
