Enforcement officers operating along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway have discovered an illegal makeshift clinic hidden inside a roadside shanty and rescued a patient receiving intravenous treatment at the facility.

The unregistered medical establishment was found at Barracks Bus Stop during a joint enforcement operation involving environmental sanitation corps, rapid response units, Lagos State task force and other security agencies.

The operation, aimed at clearing illegal structures and activities along the corridor, uncovered the clandestine clinic where a male patient identified as Aminu was receiving treatment through a drip.

Video documentation from the scene showed enforcement personnel removing the patient from the makeshift facility before the structure was demolished.

An enforcement officer stated that the patient was immediately evacuated and the shanty clinic had been completely pulled down.

The officer cautioned residents against seeking treatment at unregistered medical facilities, emphasising the serious health risks associated with receiving care in unhygienic and unlicensed environments.

The discovery has heightened concerns regarding activities operating within roadside shanties, which authorities contend can function as bases for illegal businesses and other illicit operations.

Enforcement agencies indicated that clearance operations would persist along the Lagos-Badagry axis as part of a broader effort to eliminate illegal structures and unlicensed establishments from major road corridors and their immediate surroundings.
