Soldiers have rescued a woman who was kidnapped from her farm last month in Kebbi State.
The troops got intelligence that the kidnappers were planning to collect a ransom payment and moved quickly to stop the exchange.
The soldiers advanced on the location and the kidnappers spotted them.
They tried to fight back but the troops' superior firepower forced them to retreat in disorder.
As they fled, they abandoned the woman they had been holding.
The troops secured her and she was found to be in good health.
She was then transported safely to reunite with her family in the area.
After the rescue, soldiers followed the path the kidnappers took to make sure the area was fully secured before returning to their base.
In a related operation, troops also conducted regular patrols in another local government area without any incidents.
These patrols are part of efforts to prevent criminals from moving freely in the region.
The military spokesman said troops will continue putting pressure on terrorists and bandits operating in Kebbi State and across the country.
He urged residents to help by giving security agencies accurate information about criminal activity in their communities.
He said this kind of intelligence is critical to stopping attacks and keeping communities safe.
