Nigeria's FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said he will stay active in Rivers State politics and won't let former Vice President Atiku win the 2027 presidential election.

He made the statement at his monthly media meeting with journalists in Port Harcourt.

Wike dismissed talk that his frequent trips to Rivers mean he is moving back from Abuja.

He said he visits the state to stay connected with his political base and watch what is happening before the election.

He isn't leaving his job as FCT minister or abandoning the capital.

He explained that he cannot just sit in Abuja and trust what people tell him about Rivers.

He needs to come home and see things himself, ask questions and understand exactly what is going on.

He won't depend on promises from political allies that everything is fine.

Wike said the upcoming election demands that he be actively involved.

His family still lives in Rivers, his parents are still alive and his political roots are there.

These ties mean he needs to visit regularly as the race for 2027 heats up.

His point was clear: frequent visits to Rivers do not mean he is abandoning Abuja or his position as minister.

It means he is doing what any serious politician does before an election staying in touch with home and watching the ground closely.
