NNPC Introduces Self Service Fuel Pumps Across Nigeria

NNPC has started rolling out self-service fuel pumps at its retail stations, letting drivers pump their own petrol using a mobile app instead of waiting for an attendant.

The company plans to have between 50 and 70 of these smart, self-service stations across Nigeria within the next six months.

With this system, you select how much fuel you want, pay through the app, get a code, and use that code to activate the pump and dispense exactly what you paid for.

Here's how to use it.

First, download the NRL Fuel App on your phone.

Open it, tap Fuel Purchase, and select your fuel type.

Then browse the station list and look for an NNPC Retail station with a green Self-Serve badge next to its name.

Tap it to select it.

Next, enter the amount you want to spend on fuel.

The app will show you the quantity and price.

Review it and tap Pay from Wallet.

Once the payment goes through, the app generates a digital receipt with your Order ID, an 8-digit self-service code, and a QR code.

When you get to the pump, enter your 8-digit code on the terminal and press the hash key.

The pump will validate it, and you can pick up the nozzle and fuel up.

You'll get exactly what you paid for.

NNPC says this is part of their plan to turn regular filling stations into broader energy and mobility hubs.

The smart stations will offer other services too electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, and other mobility services all in one place.
