A former minister, a former member of the PDP Board of Trustee, and more than 8,000 members of the PDP have defected to the APC in Kogi State.
Former member of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustee, Mrs Halima Alfa, former Minister of Police Affairs, Humphery Abba, and more than 8,000 members of the PDP have reportedly defected to the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kogi State.
The defection of the PDP members is coming few months to the governorship election in Kogi State in Nigeria’s north-central region. The leader of the APC in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, received the defected members into on Wednesday at a rally held in Ayingba, Eastern Senatorial District of the state.
Audu expressed optimism that the defection of the former top government officials and members of the PDP would boost the popularity and chances of the APC in the November 21 governorship poll in Kogi State.
The APC leader further asserted that the time had come for change in Kogi State, reiterating his party’s determination to take over leadership from the ruling PDP.
On behalf of the defected members, Mrs Alfa said that the PDP government failed to meet the aspirations of the people, which led to their defection, and urged the party supporters to come out en-mass to vote for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
