Man Shoots His Wife Dead After Mistaking Her For An Intruder

The victim, Debora Kelly, a 48-year-old woman, was shot once in the upper body and was pronounced dead inside her home in San Antonio, Texas when medics arrived.

Her husband, who has not been identified, told police officers he heard noises at the front of the house and saw a flash of light, and thought it was an intruder.

He grabbed his shotgun and fired a single round, hitting his wife.

The man was interviewed by detectives on Saturday and has not been charged, police said. The case remains under investigation.

Neighbours told reporters that they were shocked by the incident. They said that the husband owns a contracting company while his wife worked "in the medical world."

One of them said, "They have been married several years and seemed to be doing just fine."
