27-year-old Morufu Abdullah has been arrested by police in Osun for allegedly attempting to remove an air conditioning unit at a COVID-19 isolation centre, The Nation reports.
Abdullah was paraded alongside suspected armed robbers, cultists and burglars at the police headquarters in Osogbo yesterday.
Police spokesperson Yemisi Opalola said a security personnel attached to Osun State University Teaching Hospital Annex, Mercy Land, one of the state’s COVID-19 isolation centres in the Dada Estate area of Osogbo, saw “a person inside one of the hospital rooms removing the air conditioners and alerted the Dada Estate Police Station”.
Opalola said the incident happened on July 22.
“The police immediately moved to the scene, cordoned off the area and arrested one Morufu Abdullah who has removed one of the air conditioners in one of the rooms.”
Other suspects Sefiu Adeboye, 22, Simon Adekunle, 37, and Adekunle Odekanyi, 21, were equally paraded for allegedly robbing Anglican Mission House at Akiriboto.
Opalola said a Dane gun, charms, cutlasses and axes were recovered from the suspects.
