No less than ten hunters have been arrested and charged in Adamawa State.

The hunters in Lamurde Local Government Area of Adamawa State have appeared before a court for allegedly killing a man and setting the corpse ablaze.

The 10 allegedly inflicted cuts on the man, Danlami Kaura, and after he was rushed to the hospital, went to the hospital, took him out to a nearby bush, killed him, and set fire to his body.

The hunters include their chairman Abubakar Hamman, 48; Musa Mohammed, 38; Ibrahim NEPA, 35; Musa Ibrahim, 21; Ibrahim Jibrilla, 40; Abdullahi Siniya, 31 and Yusuf Buba, 39.

Abubakar Hamman and six others were arraigned over alleged criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide punishable with death, while the remaining defendants including Usman Nabari (aka Usman Manaja) 45; Abdullahi Sabitu, 27; Aminu Yahaya, 25 (at large) and Solomon Nabari, 25, were charged alongside seven other defendants for alleged criminal intimidation and inciting disturbance.

The prosecution alleged that the chairman of the special hunters and six others caused the death of Danlami Kaura on the 28th May 2022.

DAILY POST Post gathered that the deceased was violently attacked by the hunters, as a result of which he sustained head and waist injuries.

After he was taken to a hospital in Lamurde for treatment, the defendants stormed the hospital and fired gunshots which made everybody, including medical personnel, scamper for safety.

Thereafter, the defendants forcefully took Danlami from the hospital bed to a nearby bush where they killed him and set his corpse ablaze.

While the family members and friends of the deceased were mourning, Abdullahi Sabitu and three other hunters drove in a Hilux van to the residence and fired gunshots, making the mourners run for safety which, according to the prosecution, amounted to criminal intimidation and inciting public disturbance by the hunters.

They are all facing trial before Justice Danladi Mohammed of Adamawa State High Court, who has adjourned the case to the 29th of November 2022 for a continuation of the hearing.
