Why Atiku’s Picture Was Not Included On PDP Branded Vehicles – Makinde

Posted by Thandiubani on Thu 08th Dec, 2022 - tori.ng

The governor asserted that there was nothing wrong if a politician chooses his own campaign strategy, stressing that nobody can force any politician to change his tactics.

The Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has explained why the picture of the presidential candidate Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is missing on branded campaign vehicles in the state.

Atiku’s picture was missing on the branded campaign vehicles parked around the governor’s house in the Ikolaba area of Ibadan, the state capital.

Speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Governor Makinde said it is not compulsory for the state campaign council to include the picture of the PDP flagbearer on the branded vehicles.

The governor asserted that there was nothing wrong if a politician chooses his own campaign strategy, stressing that nobody can force any politician to change his tactics.

He said, “Is that the only place you have seen branded cars?

“I have seen branded cars by state House of Assembly candidates with just pictures of others running for House of Representatives in their localities.

“Anybody that branded cars with his own money… You see, you can’t force them to put my own picture or someone else’s picture so as to vote for him.”

Makinde disclosed that the aggrieved governors in PDP in Nigeria, known as the “G5″ have presented a reconciliatory document to the party leadership.

The governor stated that members that left the party did so because of their political ambitions, adding that plans to reconcile all aggrieved members are ongoing ahead of the 2023 general elections

“I believe those that left the party, did so owing to their political ambitions. Work is ongoing at bringing every party member together ahead of the 2023 general elections.

“Of course, we are reaching out to them, while some are vindicated on dropping their ambitions to join back in the party,” Makinde said.

The PDP aggrieved governors included Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Ifeanyi Ugwanyi (Enugu), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
