Connie Chiume
72-year-old iconic South African actress and filmmaker, Connie Chiume, has passed on.
Chiume known for her role in 'Black Panther' died on August 6, 2024, at Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg.
Chiume’s family in a statement requested privacy as they mourn the huge loss.
The statement reads, “The Chiume Family regrets to inform you of the passing of the internationally acclaimed award-winning actress Connie Chiume. Connie Chiume, 72, passed on at Garden City Hospital today on August 6, 2024. The family will communicate further details and ask for privacy during this difficult period.”
Chiume’s career spanned several decades, during which she became a household name through her roles in popular TV shows such as Mohlolohadi, Yizo Yizo, Zone 14, Rhythm City, Housekeepers, and Grassroots.
She also made a mark internationally with her role in the Marvel film Black Panther and its sequel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
The late actress made huge contributions to the entertainment industry and her recent work includes a notable performance in the hit series ‘Gomora’.
