Human rights activist and psychologist, Comrade Israel Joe, has criticized Nollywood actor Jim Iyke for portraying single mothers negatively.

The actor in an interview with a Ghana radio station claimed that single mothers cannot raise a boy into a “proper man”

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Mr Joe said Jim Iyke, an ‘irresponsible over-matured bachelor’ has no moral compass to say single mothers cannot raise responsible male children.

He further said the actor is not better than former US president, Barack Obama, who was raised by a single mother.

“Na Jim Iyke naim come better pass Barack Obama wey single mother raise?,”
Joe asked in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

"Sometimes people just open their mouth and express their limited and one-sided experience, tagging the whole world into their microscopic views of life.

"You can ațțąćk and interrogate single-motherhood without demonising single-mothers as if they are not human beings. While I share in the view to stop glorifying single-motherhood, we must condemn irresponsible fatherhood as well. Some single-motherhood were mistakes and ignorance, others are intentional and few are situational.

"Jim Iyke being a responsible man and irresponsible over-matured bachelor has no moral compass to say that single mothers can not raise responsible male children. Is his not being married traceable to being raised by a single mother? Maybe he said so within a small contextual usage I guess.

“I think as a psychologist, we should interrogate social issues holistically instead of a left-handed navigated circle, seen everywhere.”
