Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris on Thursday carried out an on-the-spot assessment of roads damaged by heavy rainfall in Dandi Local Government Area, as affected communities pressed for swift action to restore access and prevent conditions from worsening.

The inspection covered the Kingakwai–Fana–Dakingari Road and the Fana Township Road, the latter serving as a vital link between Fana town and surrounding communities.

Both routes have suffered significant erosion and flood damage, disrupting movement in the area.

During the visit, the local state assembly member Suleiman Fana and Commissioner for Works Abdullahi Umar Faruk briefed the governor on the scale of the damage.

The commissioner recommended the installation of additional culverts and drainage infrastructure as part of the repair strategy to also reduce vulnerability to future flooding.

Governor Idris assessed the damaged sections alongside government officials and assured residents that appropriate steps would be taken to address the situation.

The visit comes amid broader concerns about the toll of seasonal rains on road infrastructure across the state.

Separately, the governor also traveled to Kamba town to pay his condolences to former Kebbi State House of Assembly Speaker Samaila Abdulmumin Kamba, following the passing of his wife, Hajiya Fatima Abdulmumin.

She died at the age of 65, was buried in accordance with Islamic rites, and is survived by nine children.
