A Nigerian man called Basit has been b£aten to d£ath by residents in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State.
The incident followed an alleged hit-and-run.
Basit had recently come back to Nigeria from abroad to prepare for his wedding when the trouble happened.
He was driving through the Patey area on a Wednesday night when he allegedly struck a man who was crossing the road.
Instead of stopping, he drove away, which made residents chase after him.
They caught up with him, and a mob attacked him.
A witness who wanted to stay unnamed said Basit was on Freeman Street when he hit the pedestrian.
The person explained that when residents saw what happened, they thought Basit would pull over, but he kept going.
The chase ended when they caught him, and then the mob moved in.
Another resident, Afolabi Lawal, said the attackers used sticks and bottles to hit Basit, focusing on his head.
He lost consciousness and later d!£d from his injuries.
After realizing Basit wasn't moving anymore, the mob members scattered and left the area.
Basit was only about two weeks away from his wedding when he d!£d.
Police confirmed that some suspects have been arrested and the body has been taken to the morgue, though official details were not immediately available.
