Help came the way of the families of 15 policemen that lost their lives in the course of duty.
The Zone 8 police headquarters in Lokoja has disbursed N52 million to relations of 15 policemen that lost their lives in the course of duty.
The cheques were presented yesterday in Lokoja by Assistant Inspector General (AIG) in charge of the zone, Mr. Tanko Lawal. He said, the money paid was covered under the Group Personal Accident Insurance Scheme for officers.
Lawal said N100, 000 was give to the other six policemen who sustained varying degree of injuries during the attack.
He called on the beneficiaries to utilize the money given them judiciously and promised that other benefits accrued to them will be given them as at when due.
Mr. Victor Maji, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the management of the Nigerian Police Force and the AIG for the speedy manner they were attended to.
