Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has reached out to Nigerian teachers.
Obi, on Wednesday urged teachers to remain good models to their students.
Obi made this known in a statement on his Twitter page, to commemorate the World Teachers Day.
October 5 of every year has been declared World Teachers Day by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
Marking the celebration, Obi applauded Nigerian teachers for their sacrifices in ensuring students get good education.
The former Anambra State governor said, “On this year’s commemoration of World Teachers Day, I applaud all teachers in Nigeria for their sacrifices in ensuring that Nigerian students, at all levels of learning, receive good educational and moral formation.
“Teachers are at the very heart of educational development in Nigeria.
“They form a critical and indispensable part of the education sector in our nation and therefore deserve commendation and encouragement for their roles in driving national development and progress.
“I encourage all teachers to strive daily to remain good role models to students, both in learning and in character and to continuously improve their knowledge and skills, so as to keep pace with the dynamic and constantly evolving global education system, and be at par with their peers around the world. Happy World Teacher’s Day.”
