Flood Takes Over Kano Metropolis (Photos )

The poor drainage system in Kano was yesterday, 20th of August exposed as flood submerged some parts of the city.

Kano state has been hit by flood due to the heavy downpour experienced in the area yesterday, 20th of August.The flood began immediately after a rainfall that lasted for 45 minutes. This affected movements in the area as people rushed to close their businesses and head home.

The flood sacked traders at Kurmi market and some residents from their houses around Yanmota in Dala area of the city as a result of a heavy rain, which started at about 5.41p.m.

Residents of BUK road by Gadan Kaya,Total filling station, Zoo road housing estate, Dan Kura Adamu street of Gandun Albasa , Kofar Nassarawa were cut off by the flood.

The flood, which some residents described as unfriendly, entered some of the houses and forcing residents to flee while others rescue those whose houses were taken over by the water along Total filing station.
 
It was informed that Kofar Ruwa market, Kwari textile market were all invaded by the flood, forcing the traders to flee for their lives.

A resident of Tukuntawa quarters, Malam Yusuf Aminu, told THISDAY on phone that the flood took over his entire house including the other neighborhood.
Aminu said: “I forced myself into my house and found that my wife and her little daughter were swimming inside the flood but I was able to rescue them.
